Home About Us Volunteering Opportunities

A survey of PMI Baltimore Chapter members identified two main reasons members join PMI: first to network with other professionals, and second to obtain PDUs. One way to network, obtain PDUs, as well as other perks, is by volunteering.

If you want to be one of the first members to see volunteering opportunities, send an e-mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . As soon as an opportunity is posted, I will send an e-mail directing you to check the website. I look forward to helping you meet those networking and PDU goals and remember volunteer work enhances your resume; not only by demonstrating and enhancing your technical abilities, but by demonstrating to potential employers your dedication and reliability.

You earn 1 PDU for each hour of volunteer service (up to 45 max per cycle)

PMI Baltimore Chapter is looking for volunteers to be part of the 2013 Engineering, Security and Project (ESP) Professionals Conference.

This effort is in support of a new concept focused on providing Professional Development through a consortium consisting of Project Management Institute (PMI), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineer (IEEE) and Information Systems and Security Association (ISSA). Volunteers will be from all three organizations giving you the opportunity to expand your relationships while contributing to PMI and earning PDU’s.

The event is scheduled for early September 2013. The following activities are representative of the effort needed:

  1. Finance Committee – Responsible for the conference Finances & Expenses.
  2. Operation Committee – Responsible for Conference Registration, Venue arrangements, Food arrangements, Audio and Video arrangements etc.
  3. Program Committee – Responsible for conference sessions and coordinating with Speakers.
  4. Sponsorship Committee – Responsible for inviting and managing Sponsors.
  5. Publicity Committee – Responsible for publicizing and advertising the conference.
  6. Technical Committee – Provide technical support in reviewing submitted Papers, White Papers and Poster Papers prior to the conference. Also, make sure to have the Conference Publication submitted to IEEE in IEEE Xplore format.
  7. Webmaster and Application Team – Responsible for updating & managing website, creating and managing applications for Apple and Android.

Commonly asked questions:

What are the hours required? 3-4 hours per week – Conference calls on Thursdays. Face to face meetings will be scheduled and are usually held at College Park, MD. The event is Sept. 10-13. Some volunteers may be needed through the end of September to support close out. This will be an annual event, so volunteers will have the opportunity to stay involved if they are interested.

What skills and qualifications are required?

Other than Technical Committee, we are seeking volunteers with strong management and organization skills. We prefer Project Management experience; however, a PMP certification is not required.

Technical Committee - Volunteers will be chosen based on their background and experience in reviewing Papers, White Papers and Poster Papers...etc. This group will be the only group where specialized skills are needed like extensive research background and prior experience in reviewing in similar Conference, NSF, NASA, DoD or any other esteemed Government Program.

How Many PDU’s will I earn?1 PDU for each hour of volunteering (up to 45 max)
