September 2011
Fellow Members,
We have completed the 3rd quarter of the year and we continue to provide high level training in various project management areas which are outside the “BOK.” As promised, I will continue to deliver a Quarterly Chapter Status to our membership so I can communicate to you how we are progressing as a chapter, report our accomplishments, plans, and concerns going forward. Highlights include the PMI Baltimore Chapter reaching over 2,946 members as of the date of this note. This increase represents a 10.1% growth from January 1, 2011. This growth is a reflection of all the hard work our Board Members and more importantly our volunteers who support each Site. This success is evidence of their hard work and dedication and I thank each of you. We have officially opened the Annapolis Junction Site which is managed by Mike Crawford, Bill Pickrel, and Barry Frederick. The Annapolis Junction August opening day included 93 participants. Highlights included an overview by our Vice President – Programs Mike Berendt who led the presentation by introducing the new Site Directors, describing the new PDU Reporting Format.
15 Year Celebration – 10/5 Program
As previously announced celebration of this milestone, the PMI Baltimore Chapter will be offering for 4 months, a special 15 Year Celebration Bonus for every site event for the months of March, April, June, and September, PMI Baltimore Chapter members will incur a cost of only $10.00 per Site Event and $5.00 for the Columbia Site only for each of the 4 months. This Bonus is to show our appreciation to our members and the support each of you have provided to us over the last few years. As a result of this promotion, Annapolis, Columbia, Frederick, and Timonium recorded record participants for these Sites.
We have seen tremendous growth in participation as a result of this program. September was a stellar month and the PMI BC Board is in the process of reviewing the potential for similar programs for 2012 and beyond.
We are pleased to announce that PMI Baltimore Chapter has approved the opening of another new Meeting Site in Pikesville, Maryland. This Site meeting will be held at the Hilton located on Reisterstown Road the 695. We anticipate the first meeting occurring in February 2012. Our Volunteer Lead Site Director is Vincent Fullard with the support form Li Si Lee and Joe Eaten.
Chapter Strategic Plan
The PMI BC Board of Directors continues to work diligently to update the current Strategic Plan. PMI requires every 3 years reviewing our plans for compliance with PMI as well to support the needs and expectations of our membership. When we updated the Plan back in 2008, we did not anticipate the growth which we have incurred over the last year. We have reviewed and revolutionized our approach in building this plan, tying deliverables, tracking milestones, and well as specific measurements so we can track progression/regression and make decisions accordingly. The PMI BC Board will be introducing this new Strategic Plan during the State of the Chapter which will occur at our Timonium Site location at Crowe Plaza in Timonium, MD
Site Event Registration System
Back in January, we began the use of the Site Event Registration System and it has worked flawlessly. Granted, we did have some initial software/windows issues but that was to be expected. Despite the low level issues, we were still able to provide all PDU receipts, validation, and appropriate reports to PMI GOC electronically so each of you can benefit and allow us to record your activity for you and process all submission accordingly. We are only chapter in the world which provide this type of service, something we should all be excited about. To reiterate, the objective for this effort is to offer to our membership the ability through our Event Registration System to post all PDU activity for our membership in support of Chapter specific activities. Originally it was only approved for 1 / 2 PDU events but now the Chapter is approved to submit all Chapter events.
Events to Look Forward to...
Below are lists of upcoming events many of you will be very interested in.
And finally, I would like to thank all the volunteers, and the Board of Directors for all the hard work that they do. The dedication and commitment provided by these individual is priceless and appreciated by all. The Baltimore Chapter would not be where we are today if it wasn’t for the volunteers who we have to support all of our activities and events which the Chapter supports. As always, my availability is always open. Thank you for your Valued Membership.
