AbstractWe are facing rapidly evolving challenges and opportunities that require us to change direction quickly to deliver on our mission or business outcomes.  That change in direction typically requires a change in scope to react appropriately.  We also know that governance and visibility is important.  What would it mean if we reduced the importance of scope as a way of governing delivery.  What might that look like?   In this talk I will discuss an industry shift towards a set of new governance models that focus on Outcomes rather than the traditional measures of Scope, Schedule and Cost.  I will be discussing real case studies from government and commercial examples, not some abstract model that could not be implemented.  The pandemic has shown us that sometimes we must "Pivot mercilessly, and without guilt".

Presenter: An early adopter of Extreme Programming, Scrum and SAFe, Bob Payne has worked exclusively as a Lean+Agile Transformation leader since 1999.  He hosts the Agile Toolkit podcast and has produced over 170 podcasts, recording a variety of industry leaders and Agile practitioners. His consulting and training style is built on years of Lean+Agile experience, a MSEE in Computer Architectures for Artificial Intelligence and having grown up working in my family’s restaurant, so you can expect a blend of technical excellence and customer service.  Because of his interest in philanthropy, he founded the AgileDC conference, a “For-Benefit” event put on by volunteers from the Agile community. All proceeds from this unique event go to charity.
