Summary:

Integrating Practices in Your Organization to Meet Corporate Sustainability Goals

This session, ” Integrating Practices in your Organization to Meet Corporate Sustainability Goals,” explores how organizations can effectively incorporate sustainability practices into their project management frameworks to meet corporate sustainability goals. Attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of corporate sustainability, with a focus on the Triple Bottom Line approach that balances economic, environmental, and social objectives. Through case studies, including a deep dive into Patagonia’s sustainability initiatives and the concept of B-Corps, participants will learn practical strategies for integrating sustainability into their project portfolios. The session will also address common challenges such as greenwashing and provide tools for evaluating and prioritizing sustainability in projects.

Key Takeaways:

  1. Understand Corporate Sustainability: Define corporate sustainability within the context of project management and comprehend the significance of the Triple Bottom Line in balancing economic, environmental, and social impacts.
  2. Integrate Sustainability into Project Management: Learn practical strategies for incorporating sustainability into project management processes, including sustainability impact assessments, stakeholder engagement, and resource-saving techniques.
  3. Analyze Case Studies for Practical Application: Examine real-world examples, such as Patagonia’s sustainability projects and B-Corp certification processes, to identify best practices and potential pitfalls in implementing sustainability in business operations.

Presenters:

Graciela Amaguana

Graciela Amaguana graduated from Mount St. Mary’s University in 2022 with a bachelor’s degree and, after taking a gap year, returned to pursue a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in project management. She began working as a Graduate Assistant for Orientation in March of last year and has since been promoted to the role of Orientation and Title IX Programming Coordinator. In this capacity, she works closely with students throughout the year, primarily assisting incoming students in their transition to college life at the Mount. Additionally, she develops and implements prevention and awareness programs related to Title IX.

Chloe Knill

Chloe Knill recently earned her Master of Business Administration from Mount St. Mary’s University and obtained a Certificate in Project Management. Before pursuing her master’s degree, she had the unique opportunity to serve as the first Student CEO for the Saxby’s Cafe on The Mount’s Emmitsburg Campus. This role provided me with valuable insights into project management and its practical applications to the business world. Currently, Chole works as the Office Coordinator for the Center for Student Involvement and Belonging at Mount St. Mary’s University, where she manages relationships with 60+ student clubs and organizations. In this role, she has assisted in implementing the Involve program, a co-curricular platform designed to streamline processes and enhance efficiency for both administrators and students. With her master’s degree recently completed, she is now excited to pursue her PMP Certification!
