Abstract:
Ethics, Empathy, and Artificial Intelligence
As we find ourselves hurtling ever faster toward singularity, a time when we are unable to distinguish humans from machines, we the people find ourselves entwined in a perplexing conundrum. How can we harness this power for good and the furtherance of mankind before it becomes a destructive force?
Can we count on machines to be ethical? Perhaps, if they are programmed with algorithms that lead to ethical conclusions. But will machines ever be compassionate? Will they ever acquire the ability to experience emotions? Most of us find that difficult to imagine. Perhaps, as AI thought leader Ray Kurzweil believes, the integration will go the other way. Rather than machines gaining sentience, humans will gain access to infinite knowledge.
But until that happens, it will be up to we humans to bring compassion and emotion to life in the workplace. Applying empathy and ethics first in everything we do has become compulsory if our goal is to achieve outcomes that optimize the human experience.
Applying a code of conduct, empathetic research, and unbiased reporting require human ambition. Data without the human experience is nothing but bits and numbers. Data integrated with the human experience leads to the expansion of wisdom. Join Dave and Lisa of Leadership Techniques as they discuss using AI as a tool to propel you and your teams to greater and greater success!
Learning Objectives:
- Learn the importance of defining ethics in your business environment
- Gain a basic understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative AI
- Be able to begin using GenAI and other tools in the workplace
