Team Dynamics and Project Success

This is the third presentation by Mount St. Mary's University (MSMU) students as part of an ongoing partnership between MSMU and PMI Baltimore.  Dameon Huether and Sandy Flynn also contributed to the research of this project/presentation.

The purpose of this project management research is to explore the “Team Dynamics” and its effects on project success.  It is demonstrated, with a case study, that some negative aspects of team behavior have a direct impact on the outcome of a project or on the viability of an organization.

This research work consisted of the following steps:  a) Conduct a literature search on team dynamics, dysfunctional teams, and their effects on project success; b) Validate some of the research findings, using a real-life case study dealing with a high-visibility project in an organization, c) Finally, develop some recommendations based on qualitative and quantitative analyses of project data.
